I can't find parts for my AL-KO Trailer Axles. What are my options?
by Brad Krahn - published 11/2018

NOTE: This article applies to 8,000 lb 10,000 lb, & 12,000 lb trailer axles only

If you have, in the near past, or currently own a trailer with AL-KO brand axles, you may have noticed how difficult it is finding parts for them. But don't worry, we have a solution for you.
A little bit of a background: We deal almost exclusively with PJ Trailers, but this will also apply to any brand with AL-KO's bolted underneath.
PJ used many brands of axles on their trailers over the years, including Quality, Rockwell American, And AL-KO.
In 2012, PJ switched their product line completely over to Dexter Axle. Then, in 2014 Dexter announced that they had acquired AL-KO, and combined their product line and customer base.

If you're still running AL-KO axles on your trailer and need replacement parts, you may be in luck. Dexter offers a line of AL-KO products (in Dexter / AL-KO packaging) including smaller brake components & hardware.
A lot of these smaller components, even including the AL-KO 10,000 lb - 12,000 lb Hydraulic Disc Brake Caliper, are still available from Fayette Distribution.

Solution #1

Swap out your old AL-KO axles with new Dexter (or other brand) Axles

Pros: Running new & up to date axles; replacement parts are readily available.
Cons: Costly (especially for 10,000 - 12,000 lb axles on trailers w/ 20,000 - 30,000 lb GVWR)

We offer a complete line of Dexter axles ready to bolt to your trailer.
2,000 lb - 7,000 lb axles most often use components that are universal brand to brand, so this option applies more exclusively to the 10,000 & 12,000 lb axles.

Check out the Trailer Axles section on our website to find complete axle pricing.
The 10,000 - 12,000 lb Dexter Axle is a wonderful product, but may be an expensive option for your trailer. However, this is worth looking into, especially if your current axles are deteriorating.
We offer the 10,000 lb Dexter in Electric brakes, and the 12,000 lb Dexter in Electric and Hydraulic Disc Brakes (pictured below)
